Cookie Policy

What cookies and similar technologies this site uses, and why.

Last updated: August 2026

This page explains the cookies and similar technologies (like browser local storage) used on wallerandsmith.co.uk. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores on your device to remember information, such as whether you've seen a particular message before. "Similar technologies" covers things like local storage, which works in a comparable way but is stored slightly differently by your browser.

What we use — and what we don't

We keep this deliberately simple. This site does not use any analytics cookies (like Google Analytics), advertising or retargeting cookies, or social media tracking pixels. We don't build a profile of visitors and we don't sell or share browsing data with advertisers.

The only cookies and local storage in use are the strictly necessary kind, needed to keep the site secure and working as intended:

Name / provider Purpose Type Duration
Cloudflare Turnstile Runs an invisible check to confirm a contact form submission is coming from a real person, not automated spam software. Strictly necessary Short-lived (typically cleared within minutes; see Cloudflare's own policy below)
ws-cookie-notice-dismissed (local storage, set by this site) Remembers that you've seen and dismissed the cookie notice banner, so it doesn't show again on your next visit. Strictly necessary / functional Until you clear your browser storage

Because Cloudflare Turnstile involves an external provider, its exact cookies and local storage entries are set and controlled by Cloudflare rather than by us directly. Full detail is in Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Policy Addendum.

Why we don't ask for cookie consent

Under UK rules (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, PECR), cookies that are strictly necessary for a service you've asked for — like security and spam-prevention on a form you're choosing to submit — don't require a consent banner, only clear disclosure, which is what this page provides. That's why you'll see a brief, dismissible notice on this site rather than a cookie consent pop-up: everything in use here is in that "strictly necessary" category.

If that ever changes — for example, if we add analytics in future — we'll update this policy and add a proper consent option at that point.

Controlling cookies yourself

Most browsers let you view, delete or block cookies through their settings. Because the cookies on this site are limited to keeping the contact form secure, blocking them may mean the spam-prevention check can't run properly, which could stop the form from submitting. If that happens, you're welcome to call or email us directly instead — details are on our Contact page.
